The Islamabad Capital Police has banned all types of leave for its officers and officials with immediate effect until October 5, 2026. According to a circular issued by the Inspector General of Police Islamabad on September 18, casual, earned and ex-Pakistan leave have been suspended across the force. The order, however, allows emergency leave.
The circular further directed officers and officials who are currently on casual or earned leave to report to their respective places of posting immediately. All concerned officers and officials have been directed to ensure strict compliance with the order.
The circular was issued with the approval of the competent authority and circulated among senior officers of the Islamabad Capital Police, including DIGs, AIGs and SSPs.
On the other hand, Rawalpindi City Police Officer (CPO) Hassan Mushtaq Sukhera has ordered a ban on all types of leave for police personnel until October 1, with only cases of extreme emergency exempted from the directive.
According to an office order issued on Saturday, casual and earned leave have also been suspended during the period. The CPO directed all concerned officers and officials to comply with the order in letter and spirit. The leave restrictions come as authorities prepare for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest announced for September 27 in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
Sources said law enforcement agencies and the district administration have started preparations to manage the anticipated demonstrations and maintain public order. Among the measures being taken are arrangements for placing containers at potential roadblocks, preparing lists of PTI activists for possible arrests, requesting additional police personnel and acquiring anti-riot equipment.
