People planning to travel, work or seek asylum in European countries could face stricter immigration procedures under a new European Union migration framework set to take effect in June 2026.
Under the new rules, individuals arriving at EU borders will be subject to stricter screening and verification procedures.
Authorities will also accelerate the processing of asylum applications, allowing decisions to be made more quickly than under the current system.
The BEOE said the reforms are designed to help European authorities identify people who do not qualify for protection and determine their status at an earlier stage.
A key element of the agreement is a plan to increase the return of non-EU nationals who are staying in member states without legal permission.
To support this, the EU is introducing a new return framework and developing a bloc-wide list of countries considered safe.
Officials say the changes are intended to improve the management of migration flows and ensure that asylum procedures are applied more consistently across member states.
The bureau advised people interested in travelling to Europe to use legal migration channels and remain informed about the new requirements before making travel plans.
The new framework is expected to come into force across the European Union from June 2026.
