Prices of imported Japanese cars are expected to fall by up to Rs1 million following recent reductions in taxes and duties on completely built-up (CBU) vehicles including the popular Toyota Aqua

The federal government has approved a reduction in customs duties on imported vehicles under the Finance Bill 2026. The move is expected to ease prices across multiple categories of imported cars.

Officials say vehicles up to 850cc, including 660cc Japanese cars, may become more affordable in the coming months. The adjustment in tariffs is part of a wider plan to rationalise import duties.

According to Sigma motors, the estimates suggest prices of some 1300cc to 1500cc CBU vehicles could fall by up to Rs10 lakh (1 million).

Popular hybrid models such as Toyota Axio could be reduced up to 8.5 lakh, Toyota Sienta up to 10 lakhs and Toyota Aqua upto 9 lakhs.

The price of an imported Toyota Aqua in Pakistan currently ranges from RS3.5 million to Rs7.35 million, depending on model year, variant, and condition.

The relief is linked to changes in customs duties on vehicles in the 1300cc to 1500cc category, which are widely used in imported hybrid cars.

Analysts note that demand for compact imported cars could rise if the price cut is fully transferred to consumers.

However, they also caution that actual retail prices will depend on exchange rates, shipping costs and dealer margins.
