The news regarding the transfer of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) founder, Imran Khan, to Shifa International Hospital, Islamabad, is fake, as senior journalist Mona Alam has confirmed it.
Senior journalist and television anchor Mona Alam rejected the claims made by Meher Bukhari, who herself is also a senior journalist.
Meher Bukhari, in her tweet, claimed that the former Pakistani prime minister Imran Khan is about to be shifted to Shifa International Hospital very soon.
She said that large-scale preparations had been completed at the hospital for Imran Khan’s possible stay.
She added that a large basement area, covering thousands of square feet, had been specially prepared for the former prime minister’s medical care.
The claims prompted speculation on social media, with various reports and comments circulating about Imran Khan’s possible transfer to the hospital.
However, Mona Alam rejected the claims of the senior anchor, saying that the claims were not accurate and the news spread by Meher Bukhari is completely fake.
Earlier on August 21, Imran Khan was shifted from Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail to Islamabad’s Shifa International Hospital under tight security. Adiala Jail completed the necessary legal formalities for Imran Khan’s transfer to the hospital.
Additionally, the security squad had been directed to remain on high alert. More than 800 police officers had reportedly been deployed along the route to ensure security during the movement.
Previously, the Supreme Court ordered authorities to move PTI founder Imran Khan to Shifa International Hospital for treatment. The court also asked for his complete medical record.
“The prisoner shall, within the next two days, be shifted to Shifa International Hospital, Islamabad,” the written order read.
A three-member bench led by Justice Shahid Waheed heard petitions related to meetings with Imran Khan and his treatment.
