RAWALPINDI: The sons of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan have announced plans to travel to Pakistan in January to visit their father in Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi.
In an interview with an international news outlet, Kasim and Suleiman Khan, who reside in London, revealed they have applied for visas and are expecting approval soon.
Imran Khan’s son Kasim stated that they were informed they will be welcomed, “We should hopefully be going in January. We have applied for our visas. It hasn’t come through yet, but we are expecting it.”
Khawaja Asif on Imran Khan’s sons meeting
Earlier, Pakistan’s Defence Minister, Khawaja Asif, in an interview with journalist Mehdi Hasan addressed the growing concerns regarding the safety of former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s sons, Qasim Khan and Suleiman Khan.
The PTI propaganda social media handle spread rumours that the boys may face arrest or harm if they attempt to visit their father, who is currently imprisoned in Pakistan.
Khawaja Asif denied the allegations, saying that the reports were false. In the interview, Mehdi Hasan asked Asif to provide assurances that Imran Khan’s sons would be able to visit their father in prison without facing any consequences.
“They won’t be arrested. They won’t be harmed,” Asif responded firmly, countering fears that Qasim and Suleiman’ visit to Pakistan could result in retribution.
When he further asked if Asif could personally guarantee their safety, the Defence Minister did not hesitate. “I give you my guarantee that they can come and visit their father and safely return,” he stated confidently.
These comments came amid continued fake news about the political implications of Imran Khan’s imprisonment and his family’s treatment.
Imran Khan’s medical checkup
A five-member medical team from Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Hospital recently visited the Jail to carry out his medical examination. Jail sources assured that the PTI founder is fit.
Authorities also reaffirmed his security and food receives proper attention. Officials state that no discussions are currently taking place regarding his transfer from Adiala Jail.
