Chief Minister (CM) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Sohail Afridi has announced that Imran Khan Stadium Peshawar, will host Pakistan Super League (PSL 11) matches this year (2026).
While addressing a public gathering, the chief minister said that the stadium in Peshawar, previously known as Arbab Niaz Cricket Stadium is renovated.
He said cricket will return to Peshawar and Imran Khan Cricket Stadium Peshawar will host the PSL 11 matches this year.
PSL 11 retention deadline
For the unversed, it is important to mention here that the countdown to the Pakistan Super League (PSL 11) is now officially on, and the player retention deadline has been locked in, with franchises having some crucial decisions to make.
Teams have till February 3rd to keep one player of each category.
After that date, all the remaining players are scheduled to be released in the auction pool, opening the way for historical change in the recruitment model of the league.
For the first time in the history of PSL, the tournament will be conducted with an auction based system instead of the conventional draft system.
The PSL 11 auction is set for February 11, and this change signifies a new era as far as team-building strategies and squad management are concerned.
Is Multan Sultans set for a new owner before PSL 11?
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) earlier confirmed six serious bids for the auction of the Pakistan Super League’s popular franchise Multan Sultans. The auction for Multan Sultans is now gaining momentum.
The official advertisement for the sale of Multan-based franchise was issued by PCB on January 14. The advertisement invited interested parties to submit applications.
After the advertisement six strong bidders came forward which signalled strong commercial and investor interest in one of the most popular league’s franchises.
As of now the bidder applications are undergoing a detailed technical review. The bidders who meet the required technical criteria will only be allowed to move forward to the next stage of the auction process. The final date for the auction will be announced by the Pakistan Cricket Board soon, heightening the anticipation among fans and stakeholders.
