A Sukhoi Su-30MKI fighter jet of the Indian Air Force (IAF) has gone missing from radar, the Guwahati Defence PRO said on Thursday, according to the Indian media.
A search operation has been launched to locate the aircraft, media reports added.
Some of the reports made by the Indian media suggest that the IAF fighter jet crashed near Chokihola in Karbi Anglong around 7 PM today.
According to the media reports, one pilot is missing. A search team has been sent to the area as per the details.
The defence PRO in Narengi confirmed the crash, Indian media reported. Indian officials have also said that the search team is working to determine the exact circumstances of the incident.

What is IAF’s missing Sukhoi Su-30 MKI fighter jet
The Sukhoi Su-30MKI is a two-seat, twin engine fighter jet designed for multiple roles.
These roles include air superiority. It was developed by the Russian company Sukhoi and is built in India under license by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for the Indian Air Force.
This version of the Sukhoi Su-30 is a heavy, long range fighter that can operate in all weather conditions.
Another aircraft crashes in India
Recently, another aircraft crashed in India on February 23, officials confirmed.
A medical chartered aircraft carrying seven people, which was travelling from Ranchi to Delhi, crashed after going missing near the Samaria area of Jharkhand state in India, officials have confirmed.
According to Indian media, the aircraft was a Beechcraft King Air BE9L. It was being operated by Delhi based company, Redbird Airways Pvt Ltd.
The plane departed from Ranchi at 7:07 PM and was expected to arrive in Delhi at 10:00 PM.
There were seven people on board, including one patient. The others included a doctor, a paramedic, two assistants, the pilot in command, and a co pilot.
Indian media reported that contact with air traffic control was lost at 7:34 PM. The aircraft’s last known location was tracked near Palamu, a district in northwestern Jharkhand, India.
