Rumours surrounding the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro suggest Apple is preparing one of its biggest iPhone upgrades in recent years, with improvements expected in performance, photography, battery life and overall design.
The new flagship device is reportedly set to launch in September alongside a premium iPhone Ultra model. Early details indicate that Apple is aiming to make the phone more powerful while also improving the everyday user experience.
One of the most noticeable changes could come in the form of a smaller Dynamic Island. Reports suggest Apple has reduced its size without removing any of its key functions. The redesign is expected to give users more screen space and make the display look cleaner while watching videos, gaming or switching between apps.
Camera system expected to get a big lift
Photography is also expected to remain a major focus for Apple this year. The iPhone 18 Pro is tipped to feature 48-megapixel sensors across all rear cameras, allowing sharper images and better detail.
The phone could also introduce variable aperture technology, which adjusts automatically depending on lighting conditions. This may help users capture clearer photos in both bright sunlight and darker environments.
Portrait photography is also reportedly being improved to produce more natural-looking shots with softer background blur. The upgrades are expected to appeal not only to casual users but also to content creators and mobile photographers.

At the centre of the new device is expected to be Apple’s A20 Pro chip, reportedly built using advanced 2nm technology. The chip is said to deliver around 15 percent faster performance while using 30 percent less power compared to the previous generation.
The larger Pro Max variant is also expected to receive a slight battery increase, with capacity reportedly moving from 5100mAh to 5200mAh. This could help users get longer screen time during gaming, video streaming and heavy multitasking.
Apple is also rumoured to introduce pressure-sensitive buttons instead of traditional capacitive controls. The move is expected to improve durability while keeping the familiar button feel users are used to.
New colours and improved connectivity
Leaks suggest Apple may launch the device in several new colours, including light blue, dark cherry, dark grey and silver.
Connectivity upgrades are also expected to play a major role this year. The iPhone 18 Pro may feature Apple’s in-house C2 modem along with expanded satellite support. Unlike earlier versions that focused mainly on emergency communication, the updated system could reportedly allow regular messaging even in areas without mobile network coverage.
The accompanying iPhone Ultra model is expected to target users looking for a more premium experience, although pricing and exclusive features have not yet been confirmed.
