Pakistan embassy sets up crisis unit amid Iran's protests

Amid the latest situation in Iran, the Pakistan Embassy has established a Crisis Management Unit to facilitate Pakistani citizens.

Pakistan’s Ambassador in Tehran, Mudassir Tipu, said Pakistani nationals can contact the embassy round the clock for assistance.
He said phone numbers of three officials and landline numbers have been issued.

Meanwhile, violent protests against inflation in Iran have spiralled out of control.
US magazine Time has claimed the death toll has reached 217 during clashes.

Reports say anti-government protests have intensified since last night.
Clashes between protesters and security forces were reported in several cities.
According to reports, protesters damaged 26 banks, 25 mosques, two hospitals, and 48 fire trucks.
Government buildings and police stations were also attacked, leaving several officials injured.

Media reports said protesters attacked ambulances and set buses and private vehicles on fire.
Around 2,500 people have been arrested so far, while internet services remain suspended.

A Tehran-based doctor, speaking anonymously to Time, said 217 deaths were confirmed in just six hospitals in the capital. Most victims reportedly died from gunshot wounds.

Iranian authorities have not confirmed the death toll.

The magazine also quoted Washington DC-based Human Rights Activist News Agency as saying at least 63 people have been killed, including 49 civilians.

Rioters want to please Trump by damaging property: Khamenei

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei said American hands are stained with Iranian blood.
He said some rioters are damaging public property to please former US president Donald Trump.
He warned Iran will not tolerate mercenaries.

Ayatollah Khamenei urged Iranians to remain united.
He told the US president to focus on his own country’s problems.

Iran urges UN to stop interference

Iran has called on the United Nations to protect state sovereignty and stop interference.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry said US statements on internal matters amount to intervention and deception.
