Attacks in Middle East: Iran will pay the price now, says Trump

Iran will pay the price now says Trump

US President Donald Trump has launched a fresh attack on Iran, claiming the country’s military capabilities have been severely weakened and warning that Tehran will now “pay the price” for failing to reach an agreement with Washington.

In a strongly worded statement, Trump said Iran’s military was in disarray, arguing that key branches such as its navy and air force had been effectively destroyed. He described Iran as a country that was “all talk and no action” and declared that the nation had been completely defeated.

Calling Iran the former “bully of the Middle East,” Trump claimed its influence in the region had collapsed. He further argued that Iranian leaders had delayed negotiations for too long and missed an opportunity to secure what he described as a favourable deal.

The remarks come amid heightened tensions in the Middle East and ongoing concerns over Iran’s regional role and military posture. Tehran has not yet officially responded to Trump’s latest comments.

Earlier, the tensions between Israel and Iran seem to have quickly spiralled into a wider regional crisis, prompting US President Donald Trump to sound a loud appeal on his new social media outlet, Truth Social, on Monday: “Israel and Iran must immediately stop shooting.”

His remarks come in a new series of military operations carried out by Israel, which also hit a petrochemical plant in southwestern Iran.

The action came after reports that Trump had urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to halt all attacks on Lebanon.

Israeli officials said last night that several rounds of Iranian missiles were fired at Israeli territory, sounding air raid sirens in various parts of the country, including the northern city of Haifa.

As the tension escalated, the Israeli military said it had intercepted incoming projectiles.
