Is Iran heading towards regime change?

Iran is currently facing

Web Desk: Iran is currently facing a dual crisis, on one hand, growing internal unrest and on the other hand, external military threats.

In this situation, certain Western media reports reveal an alternative secret plan of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The worsening economic situation in Iran has led to mass anti-government protests, while on the other hand, the threat of possible military action by the United States and Israel is also looming.

The British media has reported, citing an intelligence report, that in the worst-case scenario, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has prepared a Plan B to go to Moscow. According to the report, if the security forces fail to control the protests or abandon their loyalty, Khamenei may leave Iran, including his close circle, family and son Mojtaba Khamenei.

For this purpose, he has planned possible exit routes from Tehran and is also collecting properties, assets and cash abroad for safe evacuation. Iranian officials say that a poor economy, inflation, a sharp decline in the value of the currency, US sanctions, corruption and mismanagement have fueled public anger and security forces are also under economic pressure.

US President Donald Trump has supported Iranian protesters and threatened military intervention, while statements by Israeli officials have further complicated the situation. According to Iranian analysts, the examples of Venezuela and Syria are alarm bells for the Iranian leadership, where economic turmoil has weakened the state structure. In such a situation, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s harsh rhetoric and his labelling of protesters as villains could further worsen the situation.

According to experts, the government has neither a clear strategy to manage the deteriorating economy nor is there any sign of a compromise on the nuclear program that can satisfy the US and Israel.
