Heavy rain has hit Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Monday, bringing much needed relief after days of intense heat.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a strong monsoon system has entered Pakistan. It is expected to bring more rain over the next few days.
The PMD said rain, strong winds and thunderstorms are likely in many parts of the country except Sindh.
Some areas of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa may also receive heavy rainfall. This will increase the risk of urban flooding.
The department said moist winds from the Arabian Sea are moving into the upper parts of the country.
Moist winds from the Bay of Bengal are also expected to reach the northeastern areas. A westerly weather system is expected to enter the upper regions by Monday night today.

In the Azad Jammu and Kashmir region, rain, windstorms and thunderstorms are expected in Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, and Poonch.
Additionally, rain is expected in Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber and Mirpur from Monday night until Wednesday.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rain with strong winds and thunderstorms is expected in Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Malakand, Nowshera, Charsadda, Karak, Tank, Lakki Marwat, Swabi, Shangla, Battagram, Buner, Kohat, Kurram, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Mardan and Hangu until Wednesday. Waziristan, Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan are expected to receive similar weather from Tuesday.
In Punjab and Islamabad, rain, strong winds and thunderstorms are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Faisalabad, Khushab, Sargodha, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Sahiwal, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Nankana Sahib, Chiniot, Okara and Kasur from Monday night to Wednesday.
Previously, rain improved the weather in Islamabad and several upper northern areas, including Swat, Murree and Dir Bala on Wednesday after a long spell of scorching heat.
