According to a spokesperson for the Islamabad Police, traffic diversions will be imposed on the Srinagar Highway due to the movement of foreign delegations.

In addition to the Srinagar Highway, Islamabad Police has informed the public that traffic diversions will be imposed on the Express Highway during the movement of foreign delegations as well.

The spokesperson said that for more information, citizens can also contact the WhatsApp channel and social media pages of Islamabad Traffic Police.

The spokesperson said that the Islamabad Traffic Police will be present on the roads to facilitate and guide the citizens.

Citizens have been asked to allow extra time for travel and act with patience.

For more information, citizens have been advised to refer to the Traffic Police’s WhatsApp channel and social media platforms.

Additionally, among other preparations before the arrival of delegations in Islamabad for the peace talks between the United States (US) and Iran.

US-Iran talks: security arrangements, accommodation

The business complex of the Serena Hotel in Islamabad has been vacated, and the offices have been closed.

Preparations have started to host the participants of the talks in the federal capital. Arrangements for the arrival and accommodation of foreign guests have begun.

A private five-star hotel has been selected to accommodate foreign guests, sources said.

A decision has been made to accommodate foreign guests in a private hotel, and the hotel has instructed the guests staying in the hotel to leave the hotel, sources add.

The routes leading to the private hotel are being blocked by placing containers, and they will be closed.

Traffic routes have also been determined to bring and take foreign guests, sources said.

Additionally, the employees of various companies and organisations have been instructed to work remotely until Sunday due to the arrival of the US and Iranian delegations.

According to the reports, all guests have been requested to check out today.

Islamabad talks

Islamabad is set to host Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf and US Vice President JD Vance on Friday.

Qalibaf is the man to lead Iran’s negotiating team. Vice President of the US, JD Vance, is expected to lead his delegation in talks to be held here in Islamabad, as per the reports.

Three-layer security arrangements are here for the capital, as per the details. Further details have not been disclosed yet, the reports add.

In addition to all this, a two-day local holiday has been declared in the federal capital of Pakistan, Islamabad, on Thursday, April 9 and 10, 2026, as notified by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Irfan Nawaz Memon for the expected peace talks between Iran and the United States (US) after Pakistan brokered the ceasefire today.  

On Friday, April 10, Pakistan is expected to hold the Islamabad peace talks between the US and Iran.

According to the holiday notification, there will be a two-day holiday within the revenue limits of the Islamabad Capital Territory.
