Traffic Management plan for Eid shopping
In other news The Karachi Traffic Police have introduced special traffic management plan throughout the city to deal with the expected increase in traffic during the Eid shopping season, officials said on Thursday.
Under the strategy, the number of traffic personnel has been increased at key commercial centres, shopping malls and busy markets to control traffic flow, especially at peak hours in the evening when there is a high level of shopping activity.
Authorities want to lessen congestion and to prevent smooth movement on major roads.
Traffic DIG Syed Pir Muhammad Shah said that officers will work during the evening until late at night to coordinate traffic and help the commuters in the crowded places.
As part of the measures, restrictions have been put on the movement of rickshaws, taxis and other commercial vehicles on several of the main roads and around busy markets.
In addition, some roads leading to popular shopping areas have been recommended to be restricted zones for decongesting the city’s major arteries.
