The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has announced a special traffic plan, as the Srinagar Highway will remain partially closed until 12 noon on Friday due to recruitment tests conducted by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) at the Pakistan Sports Complex.
According to the traffic advisory, a large number of candidates are expected to attend the examinations, prompting authorities to introduce traffic diversions to ensure smooth vehicular movement across the capital.
The ITP said traffic on Srinagar Highway between Serena Chowk and Chand Tara Chowk will remain restricted from 3pm on Thursday until 12pm on Friday.
Under the traffic management plan, vehicles coming from Bhara Kahu and Kashmir Chowk towards Srinagar Highway will be diverted through Suhrawardy Road. Commuters travelling from Islamabad towards Bhara Kahu can use the Expressway via Murree Road, Club Road and Kashmir Chowk.
Motorists heading from Srinagar Highway towards Aabpara and the Red Zone have been advised to use Seventh Avenue and Jinnah Avenue, while those travelling to the Red Zone from the Expressway can access the area through Murree Road via Serena Chowk.
The traffic police have also directed FIA recruitment test candidates to park their vehicles at the Motorcycle Rose and Jasmine Garden parking area.
Authorities urged citizens to follow the diversion plan and cooperate with traffic officials to avoid delays and inconvenience during the recruitment process.
Earlier, in a separate development, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) introduced a Rs100 parking fee in Islamabad’s extended Blue Area, a move residents say is adding to the difficulties of ordinary citizens, patients, visitors and businesses.
The extended Blue Area was developed as a modern commercial hub with easy public access, offering hotels, hospitals, cafés, restaurants and corporate offices. For years, families, tourists, office workers and patients could visit the area without any parking charges.
However, the imposition of a Rs100 per-visit fee has significantly changed the situation, raising concerns among regular users.
