To ensure the safety of citizens and improve enforcement of traffic laws, Lahore has imposed a ban on the entry of commercial vehicles operating without valid driving licenses, fitness certificates and proper lighting systems.
According to Chief Traffic Officer Lahore Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi, only those commercial vehicles will be allowed to enter the city whose drivers possess valid and up to date driving licenses from today onwards.
The CTO Lahore further said that strict action will be taken against commercial vehicles lacking front and rear lights, those misusing high beams and those operating without fitness certificates.
Officials said that loader tractor trolleys carrying sand, soil, or other materials will not be allowed on roads without proper coverings. Legal action will be taken immediately against violators.
A special crackdown and checking campaign has been launched at entry and exit points of the city. Senior police officers, including SPs and DSPs, will personally supervise the operation to ensure full compliance with traffic regulations.
The CTO emphasised that a zero tolerance policy has been adopted against reckless and irresponsible driving. All commercial drivers have been instructed to carry their driving licenses, fitness certificates and other required documents to avoid inconvenience during inspections.
