The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Peshawar has announced the annual Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination results, revealing that Islamiat was the toughest subject this year. Around 10,000 students failed the Islamiat paper in the Class 9 and Class 10 examinations, making it the subject with the highest failure rate in the 2026 SSC results.
According to the board, a total of 97,950 students appeared in the annual ninth-grade examinations. Of these, 57,847 students passed and were promoted to the tenth grade. The poor performance in a compulsory subject such as Islamiat has raised concerns among educationists and parents following the announcement of the results.
Education experts are expected to review examination trends, the difficulty level of the paper, and teaching standards to determine the reasons behind the high failure rate. The Peshawar Board has stated that a detailed analytical report on students’ performance across different subjects will be released in the coming days.
According to the results, a significant number of students failed to meet the required passing standard across various subjects. However, Islamiat recorded the highest number of failures among all subjects.
Following the announcement of the results, students and parents have expressed concern over the poor performance and the reasons behind the high failure rate in Islamiat. According to board officials, students’ promotion to the next class and all other academic matters will be determined in accordance with the prescribed rules and regulations based on the examination results.
