The banned terrorist organisation, the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC), has disturbed the decorum of the successful election campaign 2026 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
According to the press release issued by the office of the Deputy Inspector General (DIG), a Rangers soldier has been martyred and several police officers injured in clashes involving protesters in AJK.
Police said the violence began after a group associated with the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) allegedly attempted to march towards Rawalakot late at night.
According to the statement, police tried to stop the march, after which protesters allegedly opened fire, injuring two police officers.
An SG constable named Muhammad Zubair was also injured in the last night attack by the JAAC.
As per the media reports, the police and the forces bravely faced the terrorist attack of the banned party.
The situation later escalated in the outskirts of Rawalakot, where authorities said protesters attacked a security post. A Rangers soldier, identified as Ali Raza, was killed in the attack.
Police said three officers were also injured during clashes with protesters. One police vehicle and one Rangers vehicle were reportedly set on fire.
The authorities described the JAAC as a banned organisation and accused its supporters of using violence and arson in an attempt to disrupt the successful conduct of elections in AJK.
Security forces said they had exercised restraint and acted professionally despite what officials described as serious provocation.
Authorities warned that those involved in attacks on security personnel, government officials and public property would be brought before the law.
The latest developments come after elections were held in AJK, with authorities saying maintaining public order and protecting the democratic process remained a priority.
Officials urged residents to avoid rumours and rely on verified information as the situation develops.
Rawalakot’s security situation remains under control but sensitive, the security officials say.

Security sources said some elements were attempting to create unrest through violent actions. They said an armed group attacked a security forces checkpoint in Rawalakot.
According to the official account, security forces initially exercised restraint, but the attack resulted in the death of one security official and injuries to three others.
Officials said strict action would be taken against those involved in violence and violations of the law, adding that maintaining peace and public order remained a priority.
Additional security personnel have reportedly been sent to Rawalakot to maintain control and respond to any further incidents.
Authorities have urged residents to avoid spreading rumours or unverified information and to rely only on official and trusted sources for updates.
