US Vice-President JD Vance has revealed that his wife Usha Vance has given birth to his fourth child, a baby boy.
Vance shared the news about their son, Alec Neel Vance, being born on Sunday morning in a statement on social media.
He said that both the mother and the baby were healthy and he thanked the medical team at Walter Reed Medical Centre for their care and support.
“Usha and the baby are in good condition and our children have been extremely happy to meet their baby brother,” Vance wrote in a social media post, thanking the military doctors, nurses and staff who helped with the birth.
According to the Associated Press, Alec’s birth is the first known instance in more than 150 years of a sitting US vice-president welcoming a child while in office.

The Vances now have four children: Ewan (9), Vivek (6), Mirabel (4) and now Alec (newborn).
Born and raised in the working-class suburb of San Diego, with immigrant parents from Andhra Pradesh, India, Usha Vance is a teacher.
Her father was a mechanical engineer, and her mother is a molecular biologist.
She met JD Vance while they were both in Yale Law School in 2010.
They met in a group discussing social decline in white America and they eventually married.
Throughout his political journey, JD Vance has been a strong advocate for higher birth rates and bigger families in America.
He released his book recently and in it, he revealed that Usha was not initially ready to have a fourth child.
However, after last year’s death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, he said her perspective shifted.
