The district administration has announced a local public holiday in Multan on July 22 to mark the 787th annual Urs of Hazrat Bahauddin Zakariya Multani (RA).

According to a notification issued by Deputy Commissioner Multan Dr. Faisal Saleem, all government offices, public institutions, and district offices within Multan will remain closed on July 22.

The notification stated that the holiday has been declared to facilitate devotees and residents wishing to participate in the religious ceremonies and Urs celebrations.

Earlier, Balochistan government had announced short-term summer vacations for all the pubic, and private schools in the province’s winter zone. The Secretary of School Education issued the notification on Monday.

According to the issued notification, all the public and private schools will remain closed from July 18 to August 2 in the cold areas of Balochistan.

The notification also confirmed the reopening of all the public and private schools on August 3 across the province.

Holidays policy for schools and colleges in Punjab

On the other hand, the Punjab government also announced its new policy regarding the holidays in schools and colleges across the province.

According to the Punjab government, the schools and colleges in Punjab will remain open for 190 days, which will reduce the holidays across Punjab.

As per the policy, the summer vacations will be reduced from 2.5 months to 1.5 months.

The purpose of the new policy is to enhance the students’ progress at the provincial level. The Private School Association also supported the newly introduced policy by the provincial government.
