Hina Javed was killed inside her home in Rawalpindi, with her family demanding justice for Hina and calling for the arrest of her father-in-law over his alleged involvement in the case.

Her husband, Faisal Asghar Imam, has been arrested in connection with her murder.

Her cousin, Sabah Bano Malik, a multimedia journalist and women’s rights activist, announced Hina’s death and shared details surrounding the case.

In a joint statement, Hina’s family said they were deeply concerned that her father-in-law, whom they believe was complicit in her death, had not yet been arrested.

“We are deeply concerned that Hina’s father-in-law, whom the family believes to be complicit in her death, has not yet been arrested. We demand that he be taken into custody without further delay and that his role be fully investigated. Every person who enabled, concealed, or participated in this crime must face the law. Partial accountability is no accountability.”

“We call on the Punjab Police and the relevant authorities to ensure that the investigation is conducted with complete transparency, free from any influence, pressure, or delay. We urge the media, civil society, and the public to remain vigilant and to follow this case closely until its conclusion. Hina’s case must not become one more file that fades from public view”, the family added in a statement.

According to reports, Hina’s in-laws initially claimed that a robbery had taken place at the house and later accused a domestic servant of killing her.

Hina reportedly suffered multiple injuries, including stab wounds, bruises, and a broken neck. Reports also suggest that she appeared to have been hanged by her husband with the assistance of the servant.

Hina married Faisal Asghar Imam in November 2025. Imam is reportedly a former professor at the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST). Hina had recently started a new position at the National Information Technology Board (NITB), having previously worked at the National Assembly.
