The Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) is set to modernise construction permit services by introducing a digital one-window system aimed at improving transparency, efficiency, speed, and citizen convenience.
Under the new framework, citizens, builders, architects, and engineers will be provided with a range of online facilities including digital application submission, e-payment of challans, real-time application tracking, SMS alerts, e-certification, digital approvals, and a dedicated mobile application. The system will also feature an upgraded e-portal, dynamic website, courier support, security features, and improved inter-departmental coordination to streamline the approval process.
According to the proposed mechanism, Category One cases covering residential plots up to 399 square yards under specific conditions, as well as larger residential bungalows exceeding that limit will be processed through the one-window facility within 15 days, provided all required documents are complete and legal conditions are met.
Category Two and Category Three construction applications will continue to be handled at respective district offices under existing rules and regulations.
Meanwhile, Category Four cases, including public sale buildings, public-use structures, and industrial projects, will be managed through the SBCA one-window cell. Similarly, Category Five projects involving major town planning and land development will also be processed through the same centralised system.
Earlier, Karachi was all set to witness the construction of a landmark Burj Khalifa-inspired high-rise as DHA City Karachi and ABS Developers have officially signed an agreement to develop the “Burj Quaid,” an 82-storey skyscraper planned within the DHA City project.
Once completed, the tower is expected to soar to a height of around 941 feet, making it the tallest building in Pakistan. The mega structure will cover an area of nearly six acres and is projected to be completed within six years.
Officials say the project could play a significant role in boosting commercial activity, attracting both local and foreign investment, and supporting the expansion of modern urban infrastructure in Karachi.
The development comes at a time when interest in vertical construction is rising across major Pakistani cities, especially Karachi and Islamabad.
