A new assault case in Karachi DHA Phase-8 has come to light after a young man, identified as Ali Jafri, alleged that he was abducted and subjected to severe violence in Karachi’s Defence area.
In a viral video on social media, it is quite clear that Ali Jafri was being beaten harshly by a group of three men, allegedly led by Malik Ibrahim. They assaulted him after he went out for dinner with friends in DHA Phase 8.
Jafri alleged that he was struck on the head with a baseball bat while leaving the restaurant and lost consciousness. He said he was then placed in a car and taken to another location, where he was allegedly subjected to further assault.
Speaking to media about the Karachi DHA assault case, Jafri said that several men were present during the alleged assault, including Malik Ibrahim and Murtaza.
He alleged that one of the men pointed a pistol at him while others beat him. Jafri also claimed that his leg was injured with a stick during the incident.
According to Jafri, the attackers cut his hair and allegedly forced him to eat the hair that had been cut off.
He further alleged that the men demanded money from him and repeatedly pressured him to apologise. Jafri also claimed that his digital wallet account was used to make purchases during the incident.
Jafri said the alleged attackers threatened to harm his family during the incident.
Police register complaint in Karachi DHA assault case
Jafri said he had no personal dispute with anyone and was working and running his own business before the alleged incident.
He later filed a complaint with the relevant police station. South DIG Asad Raza said police had recorded Jafri’s statement regarding the Karachi DHA assault case.
Police have arrested Malik Ibrahim, who is accused of assaulting Jafri. Further investigation into the Karachi DHA assault case is under way.
The allegations against the suspect have not been proven in court, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Karachi DHA scuffle inquiry report
An inquiry into a scuffle at an apartment building in Karachi’s DHA Phase 6 has found that allegations made in the initial police complaint were not supported by the evidence.
The inquiry followed CCTV footage showing a woman being attacked with a dumbbell while police restrained another woman. The report said the incident began with a dispute over parking.
It identified several police officers who were present and accused some of helping one side, failing to prevent the violence and damaging a CCTV camera.
The report recommended departmental action against several officers, including the investigating officer, and called for the conduct of the Korangi SSP to be examined.
It also recommended that a new case be registered against the people involved in the altercation and the police officials present.
The report said police must act impartially and follow proper procedures when dealing with disputes involving members of the public.
