The annual intermediate examinations under the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Karachi (BIEK) began on Wednesday, but the process was marred by a paper leak on the very first day.
According to reports, the Botany paper was leaked on social media shortly after the exam began. Later, a solved version of the same paper also surfaced in various WhatsApp groups, raising serious concerns about the transparency of the examination process.
The exams are being conducted under a new policy, which includes a 30-page paper to be attempted within three hours. Additionally, candidates are provided a 20-page answer booklet for a two-hour section. A Digital Attendance Monitoring System has also been introduced to improve oversight during the examinations.
BIEK officials stated that the intermediate exams will be conducted in phases.
Meanwhile, the board has advised students who have not received their admit cards by April 25 to obtain duplicate copies from the relevant section at the board office.
Candidates applying for duplicate admit cards are required to present their examination form and fee payment receipt, registration card or proof of registration submission, along with a photocopy of their matriculation mark sheet.
Timetable issued for government schools
In a separate development, a new timetable was issued for government schools in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to the notification, primary schools will start at 7:30 am, while closing time will be 1:35 pm.
Morning assembly will now include moral training, student speeches on different topics, and practical activities. These have been made mandatory.
Students will receive moral education three days a week through speeches, and three days through skits.
School heads have been directed to organise a weekly “Bazm-e-Adab” on the last working day.
After the literary session, the last three periods will be used for staff meetings and completion of registers.
In case of teacher shortages or long leave, headteachers and subject specialists will take classes.
All District Education Officers have been instructed to ensure strict implementation of the timetable in schools.
