A new National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) Registration Centre has been opened near Hospital Chorangi in Karachi’s Malir area, according to reports on Friday.
New NADRA Registration Centre Karachi
According to the reports, Member of the National Assembly Syed Agha Rafiullah and NADRA Karachi Regional Director General Aamir Ali Khan attended the opening ceremony.
The number of one-window counters at the centre has been increased from three to seven. Because of this, around 300 citizens will now be able to receive services daily.
Separate counters
Separate counters have also been set up for the Pak ID mobile app, succession certificates, and senior citizens.
The centre also provides biometric verification for people who face problems in identity verification due to faded fingerprints.
In addition to this, wheelchair facilities are available for disabled persons. And a standby generator has also been installed to make sure there is an uninterrupted supply of electricity.
Officials said around 500,000 to 700,000 people from Hospital Chorangi and nearby areas will benefit from this modern facility.
NADRA has also divided Malir and Korangi into separate zones. Under this system, people from the Malir district will no longer need to visit the Korangi office for their issues.
The Malir district zonal office will also operate from the Hospital Chorangi centre. An evening shift may also be started if there is a large number of visitors.
New digital pension verification system
The federal government of Pakistan is preparing to launch a new mobile verification system for pensioners linked with NADRA.
Officials say that this will be an important step toward a digital pension system.
Under the proposed plan, pension payments will be verified through biometric and facial recognition checks carried out by NADRA.
According to the reports, around 1.7 million pensioners may become part of this digital verification system.
Under the new system, pensioners will confirm their “proof of life” through the Pak ID mobile app operated by NADRA.
