Karachi Shootout: Three robbers arrested near Northern Bypass

KARACHI: A shootout took place in the Northern Bypass in Karachi between the Special Investigation Unit (SIU)/ Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) Police and robbers involved in looting citizens.

 The Police captured three robbers following an exchange of fire.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) SIU, Muhammad Imran Khan, the Police conducted an intelligence-based operation on routine patrol.

SSP Muhammad Imran Khan further told that the police took timely and effective action. He said that they have arrested the suspects after a massive shootout.

The robbers opened fire first, and in the retaliatory action were injured and captured on the spot.

On New Year’s Eve, aerial firing was reported in multiple areas of Karachi. According to the media reports, at least 19 people got injured as a result of celebratory gunfire. However, police officials took action against those who were involved in aerial firing.

Rescue officials confirmed that five people were injured in Korangi, Golimar, Five Star and the New Sabzi Mandi area, following the celebratory gunfire.

The people who sustained injuries include three women and two children.
