Water supply to several parts of Karachi is likely to be affected after a power breakdown and a cable fault disrupted operations at the Dhabeji Pumping Station, according to media reports.
Karachi Water Corporation spokesperson stated that a technical fault developed following the power outage, and repair teams are working to restore normal operations as soon as possible.
The spokesperson said that three pumps at the Dhabeji Pumping Station have been temporarily shut down due to a cable fault. He added that the power disruption could reduce Karachi’s water supply by around 75 million gallons per day.
According to the Water Corporation spokesperson, several areas, including Nazimabad, North Nazimabad, Gulberg Town, New Karachi, Landhi, and Korangi, may face disruptions in water supply due to the breakdown.
A cable fault at the Dhabeji pumping station’s third phase has caused a power outage, affecting water supply operations in Karachi, according to a spokesperson for the KWSC.
The spokesperson said that technical teams are currently working to repair the fault, which has resulted in the temporary closure of three pumps at the facility. Several areas may experience reduced water supply, including North Nazimabad, Nazimabad, Gulberg Town, New Karachi, Landhi, Korangi, and parts of Scheme 33.
The KWSC administration is closely monitoring the situation and remains in contact with K-Electric to ensure the restoration of power at the earliest possible time.
Residents have been advised to use water responsibly and avoid unnecessary consumption until the normal supply is restored. Earlier this month, a power outage at the K-2 pumping station also forced the shutdown of three major pumps, affecting water supply operations in the city.
