Pakistan’s government has reduced the price of kerosene oil, days after announcing cuts in petrol and high-speed diesel prices, offering further relief to consumers.
According to a notification issued by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), the price of kerosene has been reduced by Rs3.58 per litre, bringing the new price to Rs301.64 per litre, down from Rs305.22 per litre.
The latest reduction comes after the government lowered the prices of other petroleum products, saying the adjustments reflected changes in international oil markets.
Earlier, the government announced that the price of petrol had been reduced by Rs4.08 per litre to Rs331.95 per litre, while high-speed diesel was cut by Rs2.45 per litre, taking the new price to Rs389.93 per litre. The revised rates came into effect on August 4.
Kerosene remains an important source of fuel in many remote and colder parts of Pakistan, where it is widely used for household heating, cooking and by small businesses. The price reduction is therefore expected to provide some relief to consumers who rely on the fuel.
The government said the revised prices had taken effect immediately and instructed oil marketing companies and petrol stations to implement the new rates without delay.
Petroleum prices in Pakistan are reviewed periodically and are influenced by fluctuations in global crude oil prices and the exchange rate of the Pakistani rupee.
