WhatsApp is very likely to launch a brand new feature for Android users.
According to the media reports, WhatsApp is testing a redesigned media viewer for Android that will allow users to react to photos and videos without leaving full-screen mode.
The feature, first spotted in the latest Android beta version by WhatsApp feature tracker WABetaInfo, is currently available to a limited number of beta testers.
The update redesigns the app’s media viewer by placing a reply bar directly beneath photos and videos. Users can react instantly using two default emojis, while tapping the emoji icon opens the full range of reactions. A plus (+) button also provides access to the complete emoji keyboard.
The redesigned interface also includes a full chat input field, allowing users to send text messages, photos, videos, voice notes and other content while viewing media, removing the need to exit the full-screen display.
WhatsApp first introduced reactions and replies for photos and videos in 2024. The latest update expands that feature by making interactions available directly within the media viewer.
The company has not announced when the redesigned interface will be rolled out to all Android users, and it remains available only through the beta programme for now.
