The government of Pakistan has increased the price of kerosene oil by Rs4 and 9 paisa as of July 4.
The new price of kerosene oil is set at Rs231 and 14 paisa per litre, according to the latest notification issued by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA).
According to the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), the previous price of kerosene oil was Rs227.05 per litre, which has now increased to Rs231.14 per litre. This means the price has gone up by Rs4.09 per litre.
The government has also reduced the price of petrol and diesel by Rs1.
As per the new official notification released by the Petroleum Division, the price of petrol has been decreased by Rs1 and 97 paisa per litre, and the diesel price has also been reduced by Rs1 and 97 paisa per litre.
The new petroleum prices are Rs297 and 53 paisa per litre for petrol, and that of diesel has been set to Rs309 and 50 paisa per litre.
Earlier, the price of petrol was Rs299 and 50 paisa per litre, and per litre diesel was fixed at the price of Rs311 and 47 paisa.
Changes in the prices of kerosene and other petroleum products are generally based on trends in the international market, the exchange rate of the US dollar, and fluctuations in import costs.
Petroleum prices are reviewed every two weeks, with the federal government and the relevant authorities announcing any changes.
Kerosene oil is still widely used for lighting and cooking in many rural and remote areas of Pakistan. As a result, an increase in its price can have a direct impact on low-income households.
OGRA is the regulatory body responsible for monitoring petroleum product prices in Pakistan and recommending price adjustments to the government.
