Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has confirmed Spider-Man 5 is already underway and currently in early planning stages after the “record-breaking” opening of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which has already grossed a massive opening at the global box office.

When asked about the future of the beloved superhero franchise, Feige said that there’s no intention of slowing down from Marvel.

“There are always plans,” he said, indicating that they are already working on the next instalment.

But Feige reiterated that viewers shouldn’t anticipate the return of Tom Holland as Peter Parker any time soon.

The actor has already gone on a major global promotional push for the release of Brand New Day, and will be taking a much-needed break before getting back into the red and blue suit.

“He’ll be resting now after touring the world, though,” Feige explained. “He and Zendaya will be taking a nice, long victory lap, which is well deserved.”

The news coincides with the release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day at the cinema, which continues to do extremely well.

According to reports Brand New Day has made around $360 million across the United States during its opening weekend, while achieving a remarkable $930 million globally, making it one of Marvel’s strongest box office debuts.

Although details of the Spider-Man 5 story are still secret, producer Amy Pascal said that director Destin Daniel Cretton is hopeful he will keep on directing the franchise.

When Pascal was asked if Cretton would come back for the next chapter, he responded, “If we have our way, then he will be.”

Cretton was also excited about the idea of directing another Spider-Man movie. When asked if he’d take on the role of Spider-Man 5, the director replied in a short yet positive, “Sure.”

While official plans for when Peter Parker’s adventures with Spider-Man will come out have yet to be confirmed, Marvel’s Feige has said that the journey is far from over.
