Banned Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) key member Khawaja Anees has announced that he is parting ways with the organisation.
He said that the movement, which began in the name of public rights, has crossed its limits by targeting the state and its institutions. He said that any statement against Pakistan or state institutions is unacceptable. “I appeal to the youth of Kashmir to stay away from this banned committee, and I clearly announce my separation from this anti-state Joint Action Committee,” he added.
According to reports, the organisation’s own key figures have rejected its narrative against Pakistan and the Pakistan Armed Forces and have chosen to part ways.
Earlier, Usman Mushtaq, a key member of the banned JAAC and a close associate of Khawaja Mehran, announced his complete dissociation from the organisation, distancing himself from its activities and ideology.
Usman Mushtaq said that although he had participated in the protest alongside Khawaja Mehran, his observations during the event led him to conclude that the organisation had deviated from its original claims and public welfare agenda.
He said he initially supported the committee because it raised issues affecting ordinary citizens, including flour prices, electricity tariffs, and health card facilities. However, he later realised that the group’s current conduct and activities no longer reflected the cause of public rights and appeared to serve a different agenda.
The traders’ representatives of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) have also announced their dissociation from the banned JAAC during a press conference held at the Kashmir Press Club on Saturday.
Addressing the media, the traders said they represent the business community and remain committed to the peace, stability and public interest of the region.
