Security forces carried out an operation after a multi-directional attack on Khalil Shaheed Post during the night of September 25 and 26. According to the information, a group led by Fitna-al-Hindustan (FAH) commander Asad Bolani and accompanied by Commander Rafique launched a fire raid.
The group also attempted a physical attack on the post, according to reports.
The attack was repulsed by the troops. The FAH group suffered casualties. The intense engagement continued for around three hours before the attackers withdrew.
Security forces then set up an ambush along the likely withdrawal routes of the attackers. The ambush remained in place until first light.
Later, three counter-terrorism teams joined the ambush force and started a search operation between Digari X and Khalil Shaheed Post.
The purpose of the operation was to locate the attackers who were believed to be hiding in the area.
At around 4 PM, two suspects carrying a dead body were seen moving away from a vehicle. Both suspects were engaged and killed.
During the sanitisation operation at around 5:20 PM, troops also recovered the body of another attacker. The body had reportedly been left behind by the attackers during an earlier attempt to recover it.
During the operation, 17 suspects were apprehended based on leads from intelligence teams. They will be questioned to obtain further information.
Two ambushes target security teams
At around 7 PM, three counter-terrorism team members carrying ammunition were ambushed between Khalil Shaheed Post and Digari X.
The team cleared the ambush site but came under another attack around one kilometre away. One vehicle was hit by an RPG-7.
The vehicle continued moving after its tyres burst. The troops remained safe in the incident.
A total of four dead bodies were recovered, and 17 suspects were apprehended during the operation.
