Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Sohail Afridi has staged a sit-in infront of Supreme Court along with one dozen KP MPs in Islamabad today, Friday.
Speaking to reporters outside Supreme Court, the KP CM said that Imran Khan’s eye operation was kept secret, family was not informed about the hospital transfer.
He alleged that the authorities are not allowing him to meet Imran Khan, saying that “We are not being allowed to meet the PTI founder but we have other options too.”
“When the Khan fell ill, he must have been examined in jail, but the family and lawyers were not informed,” he added.
Afridi stated that he met the Supreme Court registrar, saying that “We are waiting for a response from the Chief Justice.”
Imran Khan was brought to PIMS, confirms Atta Tarar
Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar confirmed that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan was brought to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) for a brief check-up.
During an informal interaction with a reporter, Atta Tarar revealed that ophthalmologists carried out an examination of Imran Khan at Adiala Jail. They suggested that the former PM should be shifted to PIMS for further assessment and minor medical procedures.
Later, on the recommendation of doctors, Imran Khan was taken to PIMS last Saturday night, the minister added.
Atta Tarar further said that the PTI founder had his eyes examined. After Imran Khan’s written consent, a medical procedure of nearly 20 minutes was carried out and then he was taken back to Adiala Jail with necessary instructions.
The minister revealed that the former PM is fully fit and healthy. All prisoners have access to medical facilities, this is according to the rules, he added.
PTI internal rifts
On the other hand, internal rifts emerged within PTI. Senior Journalist, Rauf Klasra, earlier revealed that Chairman PTI, Gohar Ali Khan, doesn’t want to meet the founder of PTI, Imran Khan, in jail. He said that there are multiple reasons that Barrister Gohar avoided meeting Khan alone in Adiala.
The journalist said one reason is that the other party leaders, including Imran Khan’s sisters, don’t trust Barrister Gohar. Rauf Klasra stated that several PTI leaders think that Barrister Gohar has the potential to compromise with the establishment, adding that Barrister Gohar is a coward.
Several PTI senior leaders think that the PTI chairman can’t convey the message of Imran Khan in a proper way because Barrister Gohar does not have an aggressive personality, the journalist added.
Rauf Klasra also said that Imran Khan’s sister doesn’t trust anyone except Salman Akram Raja. However, the journalist praised Barrister Gohar, saying that “Barrister Gohar is a decent man and doesn’t believe in fights.”
