Gas supply suspended to CNG stations across KP

The federal government has decided to immediately suspend gas supplies to CNG stations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with a formal letter sent to the provincial government in this regard.

According to the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) administration, a major disruption in the RLNG supply chain, coupled with operational difficulties, has caused a significant drop in gas pressure in the transmission pipelines.

The company said the suspension was necessary to maintain gas pressure in the system and ensure an uninterrupted supply to domestic consumers, who have been given first priority.

As a result, gas supply to the CNG sector will remain suspended until further orders.

In the letter, the provincial government has been requested to direct all deputy commissioners across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to take immediate measures to shut down CNG stations.

SNGPL has warned that failure to close CNG stations in a timely manner could lead to a further decline in pressure across the transmission system.

This could cause serious difficulties for domestic consumers and potentially lead to public unrest, the company warned.
