The Provincial Minister for Communications and Works Akbar Ayub Khan has said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has now approved Rs10 billion for the launch of modern electric bus service.
The new electric bus service will connect Haripur, Abbottabad and Mansehra. It was approved in the recent provincial budget.
The Minister has called the approval a major achievement for the people of Hazara Division.
He further said that the new electric bus service will provide modern, affordable and safe transport facilities to nearly thousands of citizens across the division.
The project is expected to make public transport smooth for students, government-employees, the business community and private sector employees.
He added that the service will also contribute to the economic and social development among the three divisions.
The introduction of the electric bus service will help reduce the burden on fossil fuel as rising petrol prices continue to affect public transport.
Environmental protection will also be ensured by the new initiative, Akbar Ayub Khan added.
The KP government is committed to development and public welfare of the province.
The Minister also expects that the electric bus service will create new opportunities for growth and connectivity for the people of the three districts.
