The Inspector General of Police (IG) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has issued written operational guidelines for handling riots, protest demonstrations and situations involving the disruption of law and order.

According to the guidelines, individuals involved in rioting, vandalism or other activities that disrupt public order will face action in accordance with the law. The guidelines state that damage to government installations, buildings and public property will not be tolerated during protests or riots.

The police have urged citizens to avoid illegal gatherings, violent activities and incitement, warning that those involved could face strict legal action. Legal action will also be taken against individuals who disrupt law and order, attack security personnel or buildings, or endanger the lives and property of citizens.

Citizens have been advised to remain peaceful, comply with the law and avoid being misled by elements seeking to incite violence. The police will make special security arrangements to protect police stations, government buildings, banks, petrol pumps, commercial centres and major highways.

According to the guidelines, protest demonstrations and related activities will be video-recorded to support any subsequent legal proceedings. The police will also coordinate with district administrations and other relevant agencies to ensure an effective response to protest situations and maintain law and order.
