At least seven people were killed and 33 others injured in separate incidents caused by heavy rain and strong winds in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the past 24 hours, as roofs and walls collapsed in several districts.

According to a damage assessment report released by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), the casualties occurred in various parts of the province due to rainstorms, windstorms and lightning-related incidents.

The deceased included two children, four men and one woman, while the injured comprised seven men, 12 women and 14 children.

The PDMA said the incidents were reported from the districts of Bannu, Shangla and Mansehra.

Meanwhile, authorities have also warned of the risk of glacial lake outburst floods (GLOFs) in the upper regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Rising temperatures combined with recent rainfall have accelerated glacier melting, increasing the possibility of flash floods in vulnerable areas.

Deputy commissioners in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan and Mansehra have been directed to remain on high alert. Officials warned that low-lying areas could face flood-like conditions and instructed local administrations to continuously monitor sensitive locations.

Authorities have further directed district administrations to ensure timely warnings and evacuation measures in high-risk areas. Residents have been advised to stay away from riverbanks, seasonal streams and locations with strong water currents to avoid any loss of life or property.
