Good news for Pakistanis stuck in Kuwait

Kuwait Pakistanis visa

The Ministry of Interior in Kuwait has announced a grace period of automatic extension of visit visas by one month, in addition to granting an additional three-month absence permit for any resident out of country currently.

The decision was made keeping in view exceptional circumstances faced by the state.

According to an official statement, all kinds of visit entry visas that have expired or are coming to expire for the current period will be extended for one month from Saturday, February 28, 2026.

Authorities stated that the extension will be processed automatically via the electronic system. Visitors will not have to go to residency affairs departments, and submit their applications in person.

The ministry also assured that the related fees and fines that people accumulate during this time will have all charges waived.

This step has been made as part of the measures taken to alleviate the situation for those visitors and residents who have been affected by the current situation.

The decision is also applicable to expatriates who are outside Kuwait and have exceeded the allowed period of absence. These residents will get an extension of three months.

Officials said the absence extension will also be automatically incurred through the electronic system.

As is the case with visa extension, the normal fees associated with this process will be waived.

The Ministry of Interior added that the announced time frames could be extended further in relation to developments in the situation of the country.

In a separate development, Kuwait has added some major reforms to its family visit visa system for employees in an effort to simplify the process.

One of the most notable changes is that the sponsor’s minimum salary requirement has been eliminated. This step is expected to help the residents easily invite relatives to the country.

Under the new system, applications will now be required to be submitted digitally, using the official Kuwait Visa platform.

Rules of eligibility have also been broadened. The definition of family has been broadened.
