Kuwait has made a number of changes to the rules regarding its visit visas over the past few years. The revised framework attempts to offer more flexibility to travellers while having distinct rules on entry, duration of stay and compliance.
Visitors are encouraged to understand such policies carefully so that they do not get fined or blocked from travelling to Kuwait.
Duration of Stay
Under the present system, Kuwait provides various options for visit visas for different durations. While short-term visit visas are still common, it is possible to earn an extension depending on the type of visa and approval from the authorities.
Extensions usually involve the payment of official fee and have to be done before the expiry of the visa.
Overstaying without approval can result in fines, deportation or restriction of future entry.
Exit and Re-Entry Rules
There is also no requirement under the revised framework for visitors to leave Kuwait at the end of three months and stay outside the country for another three months.
If the period of a visa ends, the visitor must leave Kuwait unless given an extension. After departure, individuals can apply for a new visit visa and return given they continue to meet all eligibility requirements.
Each visa application is reviewed on its own. Approval depends upon factors such as valid travel documents, no violation of past visa conditions and no legal problems or entry bans.
Renewals and multiple Entries
There is currently no formal rule as to who can re-enter Kuwait on a visit visa and how many times.
Visitors that have exited several times can still apply again however, as long as the requirements set by immigration authorities are met.
However, frequent travel pattern may be evaluated on an individual basis.
Kuwait has remarkably also innovated in visa processes which have included online visa applications and streamlined entry processes.
Visitors are encouraged to check the most up-to-date requirements in advance of planning to make sure to be completely compliant with immigration regulations.
