Earthquake tremors have been felt in Lahore and its surrounding areas today, on Friday, June 5.
According to the initial reports, the earthquake today was of 4.9 magnitude, and affected India, Pakistan and China.
According to the seismic centre, the earthquake had a depth of 18 kilometres. According to the PDMA, the epicentre was located in the Kashmir region.
According to the reports, earthquake tremors were felt in Lahore, Nankana Sahib, and several other nearby cities and surrounding areas. The quake was recorded at a magnitude of 4.9.
Due to the strong tremors, people came out of their homes while reciting prayers.
The district administration has alerted hospitals and rescue teams. So far, no reports of damage or injuries have been received.
Lahore earthquake today
Residents in Lahore and several nearby cities felt earthquake tremors on Friday evening, causing panic as many people rushed out of their homes and buildings.
According to initial reports, the tremors were felt at around 9:36 PM. However, authorities have not yet officially confirmed the earthquake’s magnitude or epicentre. The details are expected soon.
So far, no casualties or property damage have been reported. Emergency and disaster management authorities are also monitoring the situation. They are collecting information from the affected areas.
6.1 magnitude earthquake hits Islamabad, KP
An earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale hit parts of the country earlier on April 3, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
The PMD said the quake struck at 9:13 PM at a depth of 190 km. Its epicentre was recorded to be in Afghanistan’s Hindu Kush region. Tremors were felt in Islamabad, Chitral, Peshawar, Swat, and Shangla.
The German Research Centre for Geosciences reported a slightly lower magnitude of 5.9. It further stated that the earthquake also occurred in the Hindu Kush region at a depth of 177 km.
Meanwhile, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab said tremors were felt in Lahore, Mianwali, Jhang, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, the Pothohar region, Sargodha, and other areas. It further added that no loss of life or property was reported.
