Heavy rain in Lahore has once again flooded many roads and streets on Wednesday. The excess water on roads has made travel difficult for people across the city.
The city received 350 mm of rain in just three hours, and the heavy rain flooded several major roads.
These roads include the Mall Road and Ferozepur Road. The rain also highlighted Lahore’s drainage problems.
Bhalla Road in the Federal Colony area of Johar Town was covered by several feet of rainwater. Many people were left stranded. The routine activities of people were also badly affected.

In addition to this, power was also affected after 288 LESCO feeders tripped. Rainwater entered many homes and some hospitals, and this caused more problems for residents.
The flooded road looked more like a pond after the rain. Residents said the drainage system had failed once again.
They said even a short spell of rain is enough to flood the area despite repeated claims by authorities that the drainage system has improved.
Lahore usually receives about 600 to 750 mm of rainfall each year. Most of the rain falls during the monsoon season from July to September. July is normally the wettest month with an average rainfall of around 190 mm.
NDMA issues rain, flood alert
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an alert for heavy rain, river flooding, flash floods and urban flooding in different parts of Pakistan until July 24.
The NDMA also warned of high-level flooding in the upper parts of the Chenab and Jhelum rivers. It also warned of a risk of sudden rises in water levels and flash floods.
It also said that if India releases water from its dams, water levels in the Ravi and Sutlej rivers could rise significantly.
And today, authorities issued a high alert across several districts of Punjab after India released a significant volume of water from the Salal Dam into the Chenab River. It triggered a sharp rise in water levels.
There is also a risk of urban flooding in several cities due to heavy rainfall. These include Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Gujranwala, Lahore and Sialkot.
