The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has decided to keep all relevant offices open on February 28 despite it being a weekly holiday in view of tax collection targets.

According to important instructions issued by the FBR official activities will continue during normal working hours at LTOS (Large Taxpayer Offices) MTO, CTOs (Corporate Tax Offices) and RTOs (Regional Tax Offices).

Chief Commissioners of Inland Revenue across the country have also been directed to ensure strict implementation of these orders.

Officials said that the decision was made to meet tax and duty collection targets and to maximize revenue collection.

The FBR further said that staff will remain present in offices even on the holiday and taxpayers will be provided with guidance and facilities to ensure that no difficulties arise in the payment process.

Eid-ul-Fitr, spring holidays announced, check dates here

In a separate development officials have announced holidays for Eid-ul-Fitr 2026 and the upcoming Spring season in Pakistan.

According to the notification, the Punjab University will remain completely closed from Friday, March 20, 2026, to Monday, March 23, 2026, for Eid-ul-Fitr 2026 holidays.

During these four days, all teaching and administrative departments, offices, institutes, centres, affiliated colleges, and schools will suspend regular operations.

The university administration stated that the decision has been taken to facilitate students and staff in celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr with their families and observing the religious festival with ease and convenience.

Following the Eid holidays, the university will observe its Spring Recess. All teaching departments, institutes, centres, constituent colleges, and schools will remain closed from Tuesday, March 24, 2026, to Friday, March 27, 2026, for the spring break.

Academic activities are scheduled to resume on Monday, March 30, 2026. The consecutive holidays will allow students not only to celebrate Eid but also to take time for rest and academic preparation before the resumption of classes.

However, the notification stated that administrative staff will return to their duties from Tuesday, March 24, 2026, immediately after the Eid holidays.
