Leonardo DiCaprio regrets working with Martin Scorsese

Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio have been a legendary actor-director duo for more than 2 decades.

They have worked together in six films, and the seventh one is on the way. Interestingly, the Shutter Island star regrets one thing about filming these films.

The Titanic actor had made it clear that he will not direct, and he is not interested in directing. He believes that he cannot come close to the work his mentor has created.

However, DiCaprio now wishes that in the two decades he has known Scorsese, he should have learned more about directing and directing techniques.

DiCaprio told Scorsese at the A Year in TIME event, “One of the only things I could say I would regret about our relationship, if anything, is that I’ve been so focused on what I’ve been doing as an actor.”

He further added, “You know, you make these decisions, you play these characters, you try to get into the depth of their soul as much as you possibly can. And I would have loved to be much more of a voyeur if I could have been, to watch what you do behind the camera.”

They first worked together in 2002 on Gangs in New York. Their latest project was released in 2023, Killers of the Flower Moon. The film received 10 Oscar nominations.

They are preparing for their 7th film together, which will start shooting in February.

The six films they have together are:

  • Gangs of New York (2002)
  • The Aviator (2004)
  • The Departed (2006)
  • Shutter Island (2010)
  • The Wolf of Wall Street (2013)
  • Killers of the Flower Moon (2023)

Leonardo DiCaprio is one of the most popular actors in the world. He has been making films since the 90s and worked on some very influential films. The films include Titanic, The Great Gatsby, The Aviator, Don’t Look Up and The Revenant.
