Iran’s Supreme Leader

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Tehran and handed over a special letter addressed to Iran’s Supreme Leader.

The written message from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir, addressed to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, was handed over by Naqvi.

He arrived on Saturday and was received by Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni.

The two ministers reviewed Iranian-Pakistani bilateral relations and exchanged views on the progress in the ongoing diplomatic efforts to end the US-Israeli war on Iran, which are being conducted with the mediation of Pakistan.

The meeting highlights Pakistan’s focus on regional stability and ongoing efforts to expand cooperation with Iran in political and security areas.

Following an initial meeting, the interior ministers of both countries announced that they had agreed to work towards increasing annual bilateral economic exchanges to $10 billion.

The official talks also covered border security, counter-terrorism cooperation, and joint efforts against drug trafficking. According to reports, Naqvi also conveyed new proposals from Islamabad aimed at preserving the fragile ceasefire arrangement brokered by Pakistan earlier this year.
