South Africa’s 20-year-old young batter Lhuan-dre Pretorius has written a new chapter in the history of men’s T20 cricket.

He shattered the long-standing world record for the highest individual score, previously held by the Universe Boss Chris Gayle.

Representing the Titans in South Africa’s domestic T20 league, the CSA T20 Challenge, Pretorius played an unbeaten and explosive innings of 188 runs off just 79 balls against the Knights.

A Rain of Sixes and Fours

The left-handed explosive opener played attractive and boundary-clearing shots all around the ground during his memorable innings.

He thoroughly attacked the opposition bowlers with the help of 15 fours and 13 towering sixes.

Although he fell just 12 runs short of becoming the first player in T20 history to score a double century, his innings surpassed the unbeaten record of 175 runs scored by Chris Gayle for Royal Challengers Bangalore during the IPL in 2013.

Team’s Historic Progress

Thanks to Lhuan-dre Pretorius’ extraordinary and record-breaking innings, his team Titans posted a huge total of 267 runs for the loss of three wickets in the allotted overs.

This score also became the second-highest total in the history of the CSA T20 Challenge event. Following this brilliant performance, 20-year-old Pretorius has emerged overnight as a shining star on the horizon of world cricket.
