Pakistan lose India final by 20 runs

Pakistan was not able to start its innings properly. It lost early wickets. It lost a total of 3 wickets when it was barely above 50 runs in 8 overs. Eventually, Pakistan lost the match by 20 runs, disappointing fans.

India gave Pakistan a target of 212 runs at the loss of 6 wickets. Pakistan needed to make 212 runs in order to win the Asian Games Cricket 2026.

India won the toss and elected to bat first against Pakistan in the men’s cricket gold-medal match at the 2026 Asian Games in Nisshin, Japan. Indian captain Shreyas Iyer made the decision after winning the toss against Pakistan skipper Sahibzada Farhan. 

The high-profile final is being played at Korogi Sports Park, with India looking to defend the gold medal they won at the 2023 Asian Games. Pakistan, meanwhile, are competing for their first men’s cricket gold at the Asian Games.

India made a rapid start after being sent in to bat, but Pakistan also struck twice.

India were 52/2 after 3.5 overs. Pakistan spinner Saim Ayub removed 15-year-old opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi for 15 from nine balls, while Ahmed Daniyal then dismissed Sanju Samson for two.

Abhishek Sharma has provided the early fireworks for India. He has raced to 32 off 11 balls, including three fours and three sixes, giving India a scoring rate of more than 13 runs per over.

Sooryavanshi also started aggressively before his dismissal, hitting two sixes in his nine-ball innings. His wicket came when he attempted a reverse sweep against Saim Ayub and was caught by Usman Khan after the Pakistan wicketkeeper initially fumbled the ball.

Sanju Samson was the second wicket to fall, caught by Arafat Minhas off Ahmed Daniyal at 51. Shreyas Iyer then joined Abhishek at the crease.
