The President of the United States (US), Donald Trump, will consider lifting the US blockade of the Strait of Hormuz in order to overcome the ongoing deadlock in the peace talks with Iran, according to the Telegraph on Monday, as a result of Pakistan’s mediating efforts.

According to the reports, the US president said that he will look at ending the US operation in the Arabian Sea, if it means that the countries could move towards a deal.

Earlier, the US Navy launched a blockade after Iran did not reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, is a key mediator between Tehran and Washington, the report states.

He urged Trump to lift the blockade in a phone call on Sunday, Reuters reported.
