The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration has given motorcycle owners six days to install an M-Tag, warning that vehicles without it will not be allowed to operate in the city after the deadline.

The announcement was shared in an official public notice by the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Islamabad, on his X account.

It states that the move has been taken at the direction of the Director General (DG) Excise.

Citywide checking to begin

According to the notice, citywide checking will begin immediately after the six-day deadline expires.

Officials say motorcycles without an M-Tag will be barred from operating within the federal capital.

The notice makes clear that enforcement will be carried out under the supervision of the Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad and the DG Excise.

Installation centres across the city

Authorities say multiple M-Tag installation centres are currently operational at key locations across Islamabad.

The locations listed in the public notice include:

  • F-9 Jinnah Park
  • Faizabad
  • Police Check Post G-14
  • Gulberg Greens
  • Malpur
  • Wheat Godown near Sabzi Mandi Police Station
  • Daman-e-Koh (Murree Road side)
  • Tulip Hotel
  • Rawat T-Cross
  • Ninth Avenue
  • Margalla Avenue

Officials have advised motorcycle owners to visit the nearest centre as soon as possible to avoid inconvenience.

Documents required

Motorcycle owners have been asked to bring their original CNIC and motorcycle documents when visiting a registration centre.

The administration says the aim of the measure is to support more effective enforcement and improve traffic management in the capital.

It adds that timely compliance will help in building a more digitally regulated system for vehicles in Islamabad.

For now, authorities are urging riders not to wait until the last day, as checking will begin across the city once the deadline passes.
