Considering the uncertain security situation in the region, Pakistan has decided to take an important decision regarding its airspace. Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) issued a formal NOTAM to facilitate the citizens.

According to the media reports, the government decided to close the flight operation from Karachi and Lahore airports for different routes and at different times.

According to the issued statement by the government, multiple sectors in Lahore and Karachi air information regions will be closed from March 3 to March 31.

The purpose of taking this decision is to keep the air activities of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) safe.

According to officials, military aircraft will fly on specific air routes during the exercises, which will limit or completely suspend commercial flights from a security perspective. During this period, alternative air routes will be used to ensure that international and domestic flights continue.

The media reports also confirmed that the airlines concerned have been instructed to make changes to their schedules in advance and inform passengers of possible delays or changes in routes.

According to aviation experts, such measures are part of the norm. However, due to the current regional situation, precautionary measures have been increased.

Aviation officials also said that the temporary closure of routes is purely for security purposes. The relevant authorities are continuously monitoring the situation, and further instructions may be issued if necessary.
